The 2nd set of 3 cogs (17-18-19) are steel…… Along with the remaining individual smaller cogs. This is a very durable yet lightweight combination. This is important to note because a lot of riders spend much time in the 17-18-19 set of cogs which makes the Super Record version not a good choice because of the accelerated cog wear rate on that 2nd set of 3 Ti cogs (the 17-18-19). Most Super Record cassettes meet their end of life point due to the wear on this 2nd set of 3 cogs. Meanwhile the 1st (larger) set of 3 Ti cogs (21-23-25) spread the load from the chain over more teeth – therefore giving them a wear rate similar to the smaller steel cogs.
