Crippa vintage bike, Campagnolo Nuovo Record 1967 (first gen), Colnago, De Rosa
Absolutely gorgeous vintage racing bike from 1966 or 1967, has seen extremely light use! Salvatore Crippa was an ex-professional rider who had a bike shop in Monza (Italy) where the present bike was found about 1 year ago. The bike came to me in incredibly good condition with parts showing minimal wear. I have carefully restored it. I have changed handlebar tape, saddle, brakes, brake levers, cables and tyres. These items had been updated sometime in the late’80s. I have tried to clean and locally respray the white/bronze parts of the frame as these had no clear coat on them and looked yellow/brown (white paint). The lovely metallic bronze color, or better the metal particles in it, had oxidised to a darkish color. Rest of the frame and all other components are original, only cleaned and regreased. Crippa branded frame, 56.5 cm c/c height, 57 cm c/c toptube, made with Columbus tubing by master builder Volta in Dergano (Italy). Volta, or the Volta brothers in law, were of the most important frame builders in Milan in the’50s and’60s (until’68). Ugo De Rosa learned the trade with them in 1952/53, they have made all frames for Ernesto Colnago until’68 (Colnago Freccia), and have supplied their frames to many smaller shops and teams e. Taurus-Filotex in the Milan area.
