Vintage VINER’Record Racing’ with Campagnolo Chorus Ergo- Italian hot
Italian beauty steel VINER Record Racing full CAMPAGNOLO Chorus. No room for a Ferrari in the garage? Original classic handmade steel from Italy by VINER. Record Racing – model. Pronounced’vee-nor’, Viner is a bicycle brand founded by VIviano NERozzi in 1947 in Pistoia, close to Florence (Italy). In the 1960s they started to sponsor teams and became pretty successful. In the 1970s a Dutch Team became world champions on Viner bikes! Later, in the 1990s then, Viner was technical sponsor of such illustrious teams as Mapei. This Record Racing model is from the 1980s which formerly had Campagnolo friction down tube shifters 7 speed. Has below bottom bracket shift cable routing. Unique having a blend of tubing makers- Columbus SL main tubes, Falck rear tubing with bi-conical seat stays. This is a very lightweight frame. Gorgeous lugs with cutouts. The original forks on these are horrid scary whippy in high speed descents so this was changed out years ago with a far more beefed up crown Tange and now accepts a much wider tire profile. It’s beautiful with the detailed reinforcements and chrome. Bike carves with confidence and delivers a beautiful ride. Later era than the frameset, had been widened and upgraded (yet now too is vintage) to full Campagnolo Chorus group. 8 speed rear with Ergo power dual control levers. Campy front, rear derailleurs, Campy C-9 chain, Campy Chorus headset, seatpost, brakes, crankset 53-39t (172.5 length), bottom bracket, hubs. Sachs LY98 freewheel 12-24t. Topolino skewers, Wheelsmith double butted stainless spokes, Mavic Open 4CD clincher rims (700c). Has old school time trial clincher 700×20 though now with this fork, could take 28mm and possibly 30mm width. Front is Avocet Fast Grip time trial slick. Rear is Vittoria Oscar. Shimano SPD compatible clipless pedals. Selle San Marco LASER saddle, Cinelli Oyster 90mm stem, Cinelli Campione Del Mondo bars 66-42 wrapped in Fizik. Also includes matching vintage original Viner water bottle. Last full teardown service approx. Very little miles put on since then. Been sitting collecting dust. Original paint and decals. The paint on these Italian bikes or the era certainly have a reputation as not too durable. Lots touched up but the good is No dings, no dents, no crashes, no corrosion. Still shines and presents nice with a bit of patina. Neat bike all around. Awesome fast and tight geometry that still delivers a great riding experience. Total as built weight (with clincher wheelset). Spec in CM and center to center, unless noted. 104 mm head tube end to end. 99 cm wheel base. Being this is a vintage and used item, do not expect it to be factory or dealer new.
